Lake Houston

Lake Houston is a reservoir located on the West fork of the San Jacinto River. The lake serves as a secondary water supply for the city of Houston after Lake Livingston. The reservoir was created in 1953 as a reservoir to impound water and take the place of Sheldon Lake, which was the main source of water for the City of Houston at the time.

Lake Houston has been stocked with a variety of species of fish to improve the utility of the reservoir for recreational fishing. Boating is also popular on the lake and is surrounded by multiple locations that allow for launch.  Two of the largest parks that afford frontage to the lake are Alexander Duessen Park and Lake Houston Wilderness Park.

There are 7 current subdivisions and 2 planned subdivisions that are located on the West side of the lake and provide waterfront property opportunities. Those active communities are:

Atascocita Shores

Kings Lake Estates

Kings River Estates

Waters Edge

The future communities are:

The Bridges
